Scholarships

The most common scholarship is the nationally awarded Four Year NROTC Scholarship. Four Year Scholarship Program Benefits include:

  • 100% tuition and required fees
  • $750/year for book stipend
  • $250/month stipend for ten months as a freshman; increases $50 per year
  • Uniforms
  • Midshipmen pay during summer training periods (normally 4 weeks)

Navy-option scholarships are tied to a Tier (major) which is assigned when you are awarded a scholarship.

  • Tier 1: Selected Engineering
  • Tier 2: Science and Mathematics
  • Tier 3: Non-Technical Majors including Foreign Languages
  • LREC: Language Skills, Regional Expertise, and Cultural Awareness Program, awarded to select students nationally

The Navy goal: 85% of scholarships are awarded to students who pursue technical (Tier 1 or 2) majors.

Marine Corps option scholarships are not tied to a Tier.

Students in their senior year of high school or current freshmen who missed the NROTC application deadline but still desire to compete for a nationally-awarded NROTC scholarship may apply for a Three Year Scholarship. Student in their sophomore year may apply for a Two Year Scholarship. All those interested in Three or Two Year Scholarships should contact the Yale NROTC unit.
